Student volunteers are accepted for university or tech course-based hours, and also for paid internships. Psychology,
applied psychology, and social work are the most frequent degrees of student volunteers. Hope House also utilizes
community volunteers for presentations in the drop-in center related to a specific activity topic (Examples: writing, knitting,
travel). Volunteers can also help with maintenance such as painting or yardwork, collecting donated arts/craft supplies or
self-care items, fundraising, and other areas. If interested, please call 218-444-6748.
Hope House members who would like a job in the community are encouraged to get involved with IPS (Individual Placement
and Support). IPS helps with job resumes, job search, and support after hire to ensure that adults with long-term mental
illness get and keep jobs. IPS is linked with Hope House and the Occupational Development Center. IPS can be reached
through a client’s Hope House worker. A Hope House referral and a diagnostic assessment is required to be involved
in this program.
